Winter Weed Warriors

Winter is a great time of year for Weed Warriors! Foliage dies back and stinging, biting critters are resting. Weed Warriors Deby and Lynn freed several trees at Victory Farm Park in Gaithersburg from oriental bittersweet, honeysuckle and multiflora rose vines. Care is always taken to avoid the native grapevine which often grows alongside the invasive species. When mature, it is easily recognizable by its dark shaggy bark. An additional treat was finding a patch of Chimaphila maculata (striped wintergreen, pipsissewa) in these woods. Want to join a Weed Warrior day at Kelley Park or Victory Farm Park?
